HCX Integration SDK

Introduction:

The HCX Platform providing the REST API interface to integrate and access the platform. But, it requires knowledge of the API Specification, process to generate the authorization token, refresh the token and use it in each API etc,.

The HCX Integration SDK abstract most of these operations and make it simple for the participants to work with the HCX Platform.

About HCX Integration SDK:

The SDK implemented using dot net programming language and accessible as a DLL file.

How to use:

The hcx-integrator-sdk is published to https://www.nuget.org/ and available for consumption.

The SDK expect configuration of the HCX Instance and the participant details to initialise and set the context to use it. The configuration can be given as a Dictionary or JSON string.

It expects the below details as configuration to set the context in the integration environment to use the APIs within the SDK.

Config Variable Name Details
protocolBasePath Base Path of the HCX Instance to access Protocol APIs.
authBasePath Base Path of the HCX Authentication Service to generate authorization tokens.
participantCode The participant code of the integrator in the HCX participant registry.
username The username of the integrator in the HCX instance.
password The password of the integrator in the HCX instance.
encryptionPrivateKey The private key of the integrator to use it for encryption.
igUrl The HCX instance FHIR IG URL to access the FHIR bundles for validation.
FhirValidationEnabled Fhir validation is done if the value is true
LogFilePath This variable holds the path of the log file.
LogFileName This variable holds the Name of the log file
LogType Log type can be file or console.

Please use the “getInstance” static method from HCXIntegrator class by passing the configuration to set the context. The SDK won’t work as expected without calling this method with required configuration details. It throws an exception when we access the SDK without initializing it.

SDK can be initialised by participant or user credentials. Below is the sample code snippet for both scenarios.

Initialise SDK with participant password:

// Create a config object

Config configObj = new Config();
configObj.ProtocolBasePath = "http://staging-hcx.swasth.app/api/v0.7";
configObj.ParticipantCode = "<Participant code shared with you>";
configObj.AuthBasePath = "http://a9dd63de91ee94d59847a1225da8b111-273954130.ap-south-1.elb.amazonaws.com:8080/auth/realms/swasth-health-claim-exchange/protocol/openid-connect/token";
configObj.UserName = "<Email ID used for registration>";
configObj.Password = "<Your Password>";
configObj.EncryptionPrivateKey = "-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY-----\nMIIEvQIBADANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEF=\n-----END PRIVATE KEY-----";
HCXIntegrator.GetInstance(configObj);

Initialise SDK with user secret:

Config configObj = new Config(); configObj.ProtocolBasePath = "http://staging-hcx.swasth.app/api/v0.7"; configObj.ParticipantCode = "<Participant code shared with you>"; configObj.AuthBasePath = "http://a9dd63de91ee94d59847a1225da8b111-273954130.ap-south-1.elb.amazonaws.com:8080/auth/realms/swasth-health-claim-exchange/protocol/openid-connect/token"; configObj.UserName = "<Email ID used for registration>"; configObj.Secret = "<User secret>"; configObj.EncryptionPrivateKey = "-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY-----\nMIIEvQIBADANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEF=\n-----END PRIVATE KEY-----"; configObj.IgUrl = "https://ig.hcxprotocol.io/v0.7";

HCXIntegrator.GetInstance(configObj);

## Processing An Incoming Request:

The participant system implements the HCX Protocol API Specification. The incoming request payload from other participants via HCX instance will have the FHIR object. It requires validation, decryption and other steps top process it. Below is the SDK method which will help in executing these steps easily

//Processing an incoming request to extract the FHIR object. HCXIntegrator.GetInstance(configObj).ProcessIncoming(JSONUtils.Serialize(payload), Operations.COVERAGE_ELIGIBILITY_CHECK, output);

Here's a sample code snippet that demonstrates how to process an incoming request using the SDK. For reference, a sample JWE payload is also provided:
``` C#
//Processing an incoming request
HCXIntegrator hcxIntegrator = HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj);
Dictionary<string, Object> payload = new Dictionary<string,Object>();
## Generating An Outgoing Request:
The participant system generate a request payload and send it to other participants of the HCX instance. There are multiple steps involved in generating the final request payload using a FHIR object. The outgoing request payload generated in two scenarios. They are,
1. Initialising a new request for a workflow.
2. Responding to the incoming request.
Below are the SDK methods which will help in executing these steps easily.
// Initialising a new request for a workflow // Responding to the incoming request
Notifications:
Health Claims data Exchange (HCX) is a data exchange platform used for exchanging health claims information across multiple stakeholders. The network would benefit further if the relevant information about such exchanges could also be shared with other interested/relevant participating entities in a safe and secure manner. HCX enables notifications to share such information.
Send Notification:
If a participant needs to notify any important information to other participants within the ecosystem, they can utilize the send notification feature to notify them.
//generate outgoing notification request.
 HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj).sendNotification(string topicCode,string recipientType,List<string> recepients,string message,Dictionary<string, string> templateParams,string correlationId,Dictionary<string, Object> output);
Here's a sample code snippet that demonstrates how to send an notification request using the SDK.:
//generate an outgoing notification request
HCXIntegrator hcxIntegrator = HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj);
Dictionary<string, Object> output = new Dictionary<>();
Dictionary<string, string> templateParams = new Dictionary<>();
templateParams.Add("version_code","v0.8");
templateParams.Add("participant_name","test-provider");
HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj).sendNotification("notif-participant-new-protocol-version-support","participant_role",List.of("payor"),"",templateParams,output);
**Receive Notification 😗*
The integrator SDK will validate the incoming request payload from other participants via the HCX instance, which contains a JWS payload. After validating the payload, the SDK will decode it and provide the decoded content as output.
//Process an incoming notification request.
HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj).receiveNotification(string outputPayload,Dictionary<string, object> output);
Here's a sample code snippet that demonstrates how to process an incoming notification request using the SDK. For reference, a sample JWS payload is also provided:
//Processing an incoming notification request
HCXIntegrator hcxIntegrator = HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj);
Dictionary<string, Object> output = new Dictionary<string,Object>();
string jwsPayload = "eyJhbGciOiJSUzI1NiIsIngtaGN4LW5vdGlmaWNhdGlvbl9oZWFkZXJzIjp7InJlY2lwaWVudF90eXBlIjoicGFydGljaXBhbnRfcm9sZSIsInJlY2lwaWVudHMiOlsicGF5b3IiXSwieC1oY3gtY29ycmVsYXRpb25faWQiOiIxYTVlNGY3MS1iNWRlLTRlNDYtODQ0MC1mNjQ1YWU4NWFiYTEiLCJzZW5kZXJfY29kZSI6InRlc3Rwcm92aWRlcjEuYXBvbGxvQHN3YXN0aC1oY3gtZGV2IiwidGltZXN0YW1wIjoxNjg5MDU5MzEwMjU4fX0.eyJ0b3BpY19jb2RlIjoibm90aWYtcGFydGljaXBhbnQtbmV3LXByb3RvY29sLXZlcnNpb24tc3VwcG9ydCIsIm1lc3NhZ2UiOiJ0ZXN0LXByb3ZpZGVyIG5vdyBzdXBwb3J0cyB2MC44IG9uIGl0cyBwbGF0Zm9ybS4gQWxsIHBhcnRpY2lwYW50cyBhcmUgcmVxdWVzdGVkIHRvIHVwZ3JhZGUgdG8gdjAuOCBvciBhYm92ZSB0byB0cmFuc2FjdCB3aXRoIHRlc3QtcHJvdmlkZXIuIn0.LLqp_pfy2JHekfnr6FrbTWt_oxHh76j1WoJ-g3Uuf599F2mZHUwxAg8mFzAF7LUk7lLgznXdbAU1bkiWzME8CkpkSkqSxzOhbb1XCAy63XbBn9hiHgKjR2hcw3lA2I4Y3fmPPSF6nDEm1_mALiA2AoyzmSttMH9dtXCk-lcXzb5c7BvKss2Gk_42t2DNTNq1HF0wWYWnZfNQdV7-Jcw8jo2bIOVeD8ep774RCp6KLAC_nh68JkMd_kft_clhL8qKwpMfVq-2YRi9Njb4vAOfuMYsTAA8EjL8eJlUxWG7o7JJ1RgGNbpTfg7BzbB7SYI0fcwRjqf9VZnTxfDsTWw1CQ";
HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj).receiveNotification(jwsPayload,output);
System.out.println("output of incoming notification request " + output);
Overriding SDK Methods:
The SDK provides several methods that can be overridden for customization purposes:
HCXIncomingRequest Methods:
  1. process - This is main wrapper class, which processes the JWE Payload based on the Operation to validate and extract the FHIR Object.
  2. validateRequest - Validates the HCX Protocol Headers from the JWE Payload.
  3. decryptPayload - Decrypt the JWE Payload using the Participant System Private Key.
  4. validatePayload - Validates the FHIR Object structure and required attributes using FHIR IG.
  5. sendResponse - Generates the HCX Protocol API response using validation errors and the output object.
HCXOutgoingRequest Methods:
  1. process - This is main wrapper class, which is used to generates the JWE Payload using FHIR Object, Operation and other parameters part of input. This method is used to handle the action and on_action API request based on the parameters.
  2. validatePayload - Validates the FHIR Object structure and required attributes using FHIR IG.
  3. createHeader - Creates the HCX Protocol Headers using the input parameters.
  4. encryptPayload - It generates JWE Payload using the HCX Protocol Headers and FHIR object. The JWE Payload follows RFC7516.
  5. initializeHCXCall - Uses the input parameters and the SDK configuration to call HCX Gateway REST API based on the operation.
Below is the example of overriding validateRequest method in HCXIncomingRequest.
namespace Io.HcxProtocol.Impl
{
    internal class CustomIncomingRequest:HCXIncomingRequest
    {
    public bool validateRequest(string jwePayload, Operations operation, Dictionary<string, Object> error) {
        //custom implementation
    }
}
To use the customized class in process the incoming request, we have to define the custom class in configuration variables and it will be used during runtime.
//Define the configuration as a C# Dictionary.
Dictionary<string, Object> configObj = new Dictionary<string,Object>();
configObj.Add("protocolBasePath", "http://staging-hcx.swasth.app/api/v0.7");
configObj.Add("participantCode", "<Participant code shared with you>");
configObj.Add("username", "<Email ID used for registration>");
configObj.Add("password", "<Your Password>");
configObj.Add("encryptionPrivateKey", "-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY-----\nMIIEvQIBADANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEF=\n-----END PRIVATE KEY-----");
configObj.Add("incomingRequestClass", "org.example.impl.CustomIncomingRequest");
HCXIntegrator hcxIntegrator = HCXIntegrator.getInstance(configObj);
Similarly, you can override methods in HCXOutgoingRequest to customize their behavior.
