Assembly vs package name. The package is Core.AspNet.Net.Http.Formatting; the assembly inside it is Core.Net.Http.Formatting. .NET ships an empty System.Web.dll facade in Microsoft.NETCore.App and the host gives the shared framework precedence, so an app-local System.Web.dll is never loaded — the port therefore cannot use the original assembly names. Namespaces are unchanged, so your code and Inherits= attributes are unaffected; only web.config entries that name an assembly need updating.

Json.NET

JsonMediaTypeFormatter is built on Json.NET, whose source is compiled directly into this assembly rather than referenced as a package. That keeps the port diffable against the upstream tree it came from and avoids a version conflict with whatever Json.NET your own application uses — the types are internal to this assembly and never appear in its public surface.
